I don’t often showcase my editorial documentary-style work, but my recent project with a watchmaker for Craftsmanship magazine felt like a nice follow-up and contrast to the studio watch photos I’ve been posting. Unlike my usual studio work, this shoot was all about spontaneity and natural light. There were no elaborate setups or art direction—just observe, wait, and capture. Working in an unscripted manner allowed me to capture the raw authenticity of his craft. I enjoy having jobs like this which contrast with my studio work.
